The diploma thesis presents the research of ancient Celeia through time, which includes a more detailed research of the city's history, its road network and cemeteries. For a better presentation and understanding of the meaning and the location of the studied city, a brief spatial and historical outline of ancient Celeia is presented in the introduction chapter. The central part first describes the history of research through time, from the earliest mentions of the city in the 1st century AD and the beginning of more detailed research until the turn of the 20th into the 21st century. The following chapter is a description of Roman road network of Celeia with more detailed descriptions of some milestones found near the city. The central part concludes with a study and description of the city's four cemeteries. In connection with the road network and cemeteries of Celeia, the last chapter briefly describes the site and findings of the Roman necropolis in Šempeter.
