In the year 2014, rescue excavations took place in the northeastern part of the Vače village, where a part of a Bronze age settlement was found. Settlement features were represented by a shallow sunken hut, with preserved cultural layers and ruins of a clay oven. A large number of postholes indicated the outline of a few buildings, around which several simple pits were found. On the basis of the results of Radiocarbon dating and on of otherwise poorly preserved ceramic finds, the settlement was dated to 17th and 16th century BC.
There is a lack of known archaeological sites in Slovenia and wider regions, which leads to poor knowledge on the way of life in this period. With a complete publication of the discovered settlement features and finds from the excavated settlement in Vače, we try to provide new informations for a transitional period of early to middle bronze age.
