Decentralised network for the offering and leasing of data storage space

This thesis aims to design and implement a decentralised network for the offering and leasing of data storage space. This network is composed of nodes, which are controlled by remote procedure calls. The network is used for offering storage space, securely and robustly storing data and eventually retrieving it. Data can be compressed, archived, encrypted and indexed. The processing speeds easily exceed 20 MB/s. This is untrue only for trying to store many small files, which represents a bottleneck. Nodes in the network are capable of NAT traversal. For maximum portability, the stored data can also be retrieved by using a web browser.

Abstract

Namen tega dela je zasnovati in izvesti decentralizirano omrežje namenjeno ponujanju in najemanju podatkovnega prostora. To omrežje sestoji iz vozlišč, do katerih se dostopa s klicanjem oddaljenih procedur. Z uporabo omrežja je moč varno in robustno shraniti podatke in do njih kasneje dostopati. Podatke se lahko stisne, arhivira, šifrira in indeksira. Hitrost obdelave podatkov zlahka presega 20 MB/s. Izjema je shranjevanje množice majhnih datotek, kar predstavlja ozko grlo. Vozlišča v omrežju so zmožna prevajanja omrežnih naslovov. Shranjeni podatki so vedno dostopni tudi z uporabo spletnega brskalnika.
