Abstract

Title:SHIP'S MAIN ENGINE LUBRICATION SYSTEM
Abstract:
The proper and safe operation of a ship's engine means the safe navigation of all ships, and this is very closely connected with engine lubrication. The engine room service consists of several engineers who monitor the condition and manage the system and subsystems. The engineer on watch, in addition to the overall automation and engine protection, must know the propulsion system very well and regularly record and understand the parameters and any change in condition so that he can take appropriate action in time. The lubrication system has the basic task of fighting friction and this function is performed by lubricating oil which protects the engine parts from damage. Engine oil is the lifeblood of the engine, which is also analyzed in laboratories and diagnoses what is good or bad and helps to prevent a problem like excessive wear or damage to the engine, which is hidden somewhere and is a disease and if detected early is also very easy to repair without much damage and cost. In the last part of the paper, I have used an engine simulator which is very close to the real situation on a large VLCC ship and performed some simulations of failures and condition changes of the lubrication system.
