The diploma thesis shows a development of a collection of graphic patterns and a modular rug, inspired by the principles and works of Bauhaus. The designing process was developed through digital and 3D design, while the rug was made with a technique which enables an easy production from home. The theoretical part includes a research of the development of the rug hooking technique through time and around the world. It presents the Bauhaus movement and its principles, highlighting the important representatives and their work. Furthermore, it covers the concept of modularity including different examples of good practices in modular design, with emphasis on contemporary modular rugs. The experimental part presents a designed collection of graphic patterns, called »Kadrigat«. The inspiration for the motives comes from two Bauhaus representative designers – Gunta Stölzl and Anni Albers. The patterns were put on clothing and sitting elements through digital simulations, showing their behaviour on different surfaces. In addition, the patterns partially appear on the modular rug »Bautepih«, created using the punch needle technique. Because of the modular features of the rug's elements, they can be put together in different compositions depending on the space. With the use of 3D design and simulations, the rug is also presented in a lifted form connected to a modular sitting system, adaptable to different environments.
