Abstract
Diplomsko delo opisuje razvoj komunikacij z vidno svetlobo in možnost implementacije takšnega sistema v naš vsakdan.

Title:The use of visible light communication in modern communication systems : visokošolski strokovni študijski program prve stopnje Aplikativna elektrotehnika
Abstract:
The bachelor’s thesis describes the development of communications with visible light and the possibility of implementing such a system in our everyday life. The operation and course of communication via visible light and how we obtain data on the receiving page from this light are also described. The purpose of the task is to present the operation of communication and calculate the reliability of communication in different conditions. It is also intended to test a prototype connection with one LED on each of the transmitting and receiving sides. The paper first describes the basic characteristics of communications with visible light and the reasons and needs for their use. It also mentions the advantages that make this type of communication very suitable for everyday use. This is followed by a description and presentation of the concept and then the architecture of visible light communications. Wi-Fi and Li-Fi wireless technologies are further compared with Li-Fi using visible light instead of radio waves to transmit data. In the last part, the bachelor’s thesis focuses on the description of the use of communications with visible light and how it can be used in newer systems, such as the 5G technology. After describing the theoretical part of communications with visible light, the thesis focuses on the theoretical calculations of capabilities of communication in various conditions, such as increasing the power on the transmitting side and changing the distance of the receiver from the transmitter. The graphs show the results of the comparison for examples of signal reception power if a directional lamp or an isotropic lamp is used in the transmitter. At the end of the task, a practical prototype of communication is presented, where a light-emitting diode is used on the transmitting side and the signal is received with another light-emitting diode on the other side. The purpose is a performance test where as few electronic building blocks as possible are used.
