Abstract
Magistrsko delo proučuje polarizacijo in elektrokemijske procese na magnezijevi anodi v ekvimolarni raztopini magnezijevih soli MgCl2 in Mg(TFSI)2 v tetraetilen glikol dimetil etru (TEGDME) in 1,3-dioksalanu (DOL). Z galvanostatskim jedkanjem in odlaganjem magnezijevih ionov, elektrokemijsko impedančno spektroskopijo (EIS) in galvanostatsko elektrokemijsko impedančno spektroskopijo (GEIS) smo preučili vpliv koncentracije elektrolita in debeline separatorja. Koncentracija Mg2+ ionov v elektrolitu ni imela bistvenega vpliva na prenapetost celice, vendar glede na obliko dinamičnih impedančnih spektrov sklepamo, da so izmerjeni prispevki odvisni od koncentracije magnezijevih zvrsti adsorbiranih na površino elektrode. Pri spreminjanju debeline separatorja nismo opazili bistvenega vpliva na prenapetost celice oziroma na izmerjene impedančne spektre, vendar smo bili pri GEIS meritvah omejeni na višjefrekvenčno območje, izbrani časovni parametri galvanostatskega jedkanja in odlaganja pa so bili prekratki, da bi lahko zaznali razliko med pripravljenimi celicami. EIS meritev je nakazovala na neenakomerno odlaganje magnezija na površino, kar smo s SEM tudi potrdili.

Title:Electrochemical polarisation of magnesium anode
Abstract:
Master degree thesis studies polarisation of electrochemical processes on magnesium metal anode in MgCl2, Mg(TFSI)2, 1,3-dioxalane (DOL) and tetraethylen glycol dimethyl ether (TEGMDE) electrolyte solution. Effects of electrolyte concentration and separator thickness were studied using galvanostatic cycling (GCPL), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and galvanostatic electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (GEIS). Despite Mg2+ concentration in electrolyte does not have essential effect on cell overpotential, we concluded, that dynamic impedance measurements are dependent on concentration of magnesium species, adsorbed to electrode surface. In experiments with changing separator thickness we were limited to high frequency GEIS measurements and chosen parameters of galvanostatic cycling were too short to detect difference between prepared cells. GEIS measurements also provided clues to uneven deposition of magnesium ions, which was proved with SEM imaging.
