Abstract

Title:Analysis of stress among undergraduate college students
Abstract:
Undergraduate college students encounter stress often and are more exposed to it, because their lives are full of stressful situations. Stress can have a detrimental effect on the students' health and lead to various diseases. The thesis mostly focuses on how common stress is among undergraduate college students and what causes it. The objective of the research is to design measures which would reduce stress among students, and methods which would help students to better cope with stress. The theoretical section presents the issue of stress among undergraduate college students, i.e. how stress is created, which stressors are present in undergraduate studies, and how stress affects academic performance. The survey method was used to examine the presence of stress among undergraduate college students, which methods they use to reduce stress, and the correlation between sporting or non-sporting activity and the level of stress. The research results show that stress is common among undergraduate college students and is prevalent among female students. Sporting activity or other activities help to alleviate the symptoms of stress and enable undergraduate college students to experience stressful situations less often. One sensible suggestion among those prepared based on the research results would be to organize workshops which would teach undergraduate college students how to effectively manage stress and alleviate its symptoms.
