Abstract
Magistrsko delo se posveča vprašanju izražanja preteklih glagolskih časov v izvirnem francoskem romanu in prevodu v slovenščino. Med francoščino, ki spada med romanske jezike, in slovenščino kot slovanskim jezikom je na tem področju precej razlik. Francoščina avtorju ponuja bogat nabor nesestavljenih in sestavljenih preteklih časov, slovenski jezik z le dvema izbirama preteklih glagolskih časov pa zahteva osredotočenost na glagolski vid. Avtorica ugotavlja, da lahko na podlagi tega, ali gre za nesestavljeni ali sestavljeni francoski glagolski čas, do določene mere predvidimo, ali bo v slovenščini uporabljen dovršni ali nedovršni glagolski vid. Francoščina poleg tega za izražanje preteklih dejanj uporablja več neosebnih glagolskih oblik, zato avtorica ugotavlja tudi, da je v slovenskem prevodu zaznanih več osebnih glagolskih oblik. Obe hipotezi je avtorica preučila s pomočjo dvojezičnega vzporednega korpusa, ki zajema približno tretjino romana.

Title:Analysis of past verb tenses in Andreï Makine's novel Requiem for the East and the translation into Slovene
Abstract:
The master's thesis focuses on the issue of expressing past verb tenses in the original French novel and the translation into Slovene. There are many differences in this area between French, which is one of the Romance languages, and Slovene as a Slavic language. French offers the author a rich set of simple and composed past tenses, while the Slovene language, with only two choices of past verb tenses, requires a focus on verbal aspect. The author ascertains that based on whether the French verb tense is simple or composed, we can to a certain degree predict whether the perfective or imperfective verb form will be used in Slovene. In addition, French uses several impersonal verb forms to express past actions, so the author also establishes that more personal verb forms are detected in the Slovenian translation. Both hypotheses were examined by the author using a bilingual parallel corpus comprising about a third of the novel.
