Abstract

Title:Numerical analysis of air-supported membrane structure with irregular shape : master thesis
Abstract:
Numerical analysis of large air-supported structure of irregular shape is represented. Air-supported structures are in civil engineering special category of structures, which require different design approach and consideration from engineering perspective, compared to conventional structures. Structures, made from most common used building materials (such as wood, concrete or steel), have known geometry, but unknown internal forces according to design loads. On the other hand, form and geometrical boundary conditions, when analysing air-supported membrane structures, must be found in first place, with use of certain level of pre-stress. First, form-finding of air-supported structure of irregular shape was presented, using commercial software Dlubal RFEM. Wind loads were because of geometrical irregularitiy of structure specified with computational fluid dynamics software Dlubal RWIND Simulation. Based on self-weight, internal pressure, wind loads and snow loads different load combinations with Dlubal RFEM as a part of geometrical non-linear analysis were performed, to verify load-bearing capacity of choosen materials and specify foundation loads on the anchorage axis positions, which could be further used for foundation design. Individual phases of design procedure of air-supported structures of irregular shape are showed also with theoretical explanation of numerical methods, which are crucial for design of air-supported structures and which are present also in the software's background, to perform computational numerical calculations.
