The purpose of the article is to look at the crossover novel by Evald Flisar Mogoče nikoli (Maybe Never, 2007), which is written entirely in the language of aphasia. The article uses the theoretical approaches of Roman Jakobson on aspects of aphasia, Gayatri Spivak on subalterns and Zvezdan Pirtošek on the connection between art and the brain. In the novel, language has a central role and significance. The novel consists of three main parts and sixty shorter chapters, which obscures a person with special needs and the relationship between the brain and language, and opens a new literary view of the language of aphasia in Slovene youth literature.
