Abstract
Digitalizacija in medijska konvergenca sta spremenili številne pristope uporabe starih in novo nastalih medijev, hkrati pa je to vplivalo tudi na participacijo medijskih uporabnikov, ki jim je bila dodeljena nova vloga znotraj medijske potrošnje, komunikacije in produkcije ter distribucije vsebin. Novi mediji in različne participatorne prakse so vodile tudi v nastanek novih skupnosti, med katerimi se gradi kolektivna inteligenca in individualna moč. Velika porast medijskih vsebin in posledično aktivnosti, ki zadevajo raziskovalni problem participatorne kulture medijskih potrošnikov, je moč zaznati na platformi YouTube, ki sodi med VOD platforme in platforme za deljenje vsebin, saj ima že od samega začetka izjemno moč na medijskem trgu. Z metodo fokusnih skupin sem dobila vpogled v zgoraj omenjene prakse, ki jih udeleženci izvajajo na različnih medijih, in odgovorila na raziskovalno vprašanje, kakšne so značilnosti participatorne kulture na platformi YouTube.

Title:Participatory culture on YouTube: case study
Abstract:
Digitization and media convergence have changed many approaches to the use of old and new media, while also affecting the participation of media users, which have been assigned a new role within media consumption, communication and production, as well as content distribution. New media and various participatory practices led to the emergence of new communities where collective intelligence and individual strength are built. A large increase in media content and consequently activities related to the research problem of participatory culture of media consumers can be seen on YouTube, which is defined as VOD and Video-sharing platform, as it has an exceptional strength in the media market since the beginning. With focus groups I gained insight into the above-mentioned practices that participants carry out in various media, which allowed me to answer a research question about the characteristics of participatory culture on YouTube.
