Abstract
V sklepnem delu sem predstavila svoje izkušnje uvajanja elementov montessori v javni vrtec.

Title:Attitudes of preschool teachers towards the introduction of Montessori elements into work with children
Abstract:
Kindergarten teachers have a big and important role in helping children form the foundation for their whole lives in the preschool period. The quality of teaching is influenced by the continuous education of the kindergarten teachers. The Montessori Pedagogy has been used in Slovenia for almost two decades and many kindergarten teachers incorporate its elements into their work in public kindergartens. The theoretical part of the master’s thesis focuses on implementing changes into the educational process, the kindergarten teachers’ influence on the changes and their attitude towards them. It introduces the foundations of the Montessori Pedagogy and the Kindergarten Curriculum (1999) and presents the parallels between the two concepts. The empirical part of the thesis focuses on a survey conducted with kindergarten teachers in different kindergartens in Slovenia. We have researched the kindergarten teachers’ attitudes towards including elements of the Montessori Pedagogy into their work, their knowledge of the concept. We were also interested in the method and how frequently they included these elements into their work and their observations on the advantages and challenges they faced during their work. We wished to acquire data about the kindergarten teachers’ interest in the Montessori Pedagogy and their opinion on attending additional courses. We have found that many survey participants are already familiar with the Montessori Pedagogy and have been implementing its elements into their work with children. The results of the research have shown that kindergarten teachers wish to acquire additional knowledge of the concept and they are prepared to attend different courses to improve their existing knowledge. The conclusion presents my personal experience with implementation of the Montessori Pedagogy into a public kindergarten.
