Abstract

Title:Electronic emulator of biological tissue as an electrical load during electroporation with bipolar pulses
Abstract:
Currently there is many different manufacturers of the electroporators on the market. They are producing electroporators for medical use and for food industry. At this moment there is no prescribed standard on the basis of which we can test them properly. For testing them we must design electrical load, which will be able to simulate biological tissue as much as possible. For electroporation we use monopolar pulses as well as bipolar voltage pulses. Individual current pulse response consists of a linear component, a capacitive component and a poration part. This kind of exponential response we can describe with an equation which is divided on three parts. Circuit diagram of the emulator is based on three separated branch as well. Each individual branch describes one part of the equation. In the case of bipolar pulses, negative pulses must also be taken into account. In this part, a diode bridge was used to test the negative pulses in the circuit. Previous researches had shown that electroporation memory of the previous pulse is preserved when we use monopolar pulses. The main question of this research is how electroporation memory is preserved in bipolar pulses.
