Abstract

Title:Development of mining education in Trbovlje from 1945 to 1968
Abstract:
This master's thesis focused on the minig history of Trbovlje and on the education of miners. After the Second World War, Trbovlje was the most industrialized town in the area of today's Slovenia. The main reason for the development of industry in Trbovlje was the discovery and excavation of coal in the early 19th century. The first mining school in Zasavje was established in 1838, the Mining Continuing School was established in 1905, and in 1945 on the initiative of the Trbovlje - Hrastnik mine the Industrial Mining School Trbovlje was established. This master's thesis focused on the latter and reviewed the archived diaries of the mining department of the Industrial Mining School Trbovlje. In addition to miners, the Industrial Mining School also educated metalworkers and electricians. The number of enrolled students and the subjects they were taught in the mining department were extracted from the archived diaries. Archived diaries from the establishment of the Industrial Mining School Trbovlje from 1945 to 1968, when the school merged with the Mining Industrial School Zagorje ob Savi were reviewed. Due to the insufficient enrollment of students in the mining department, education for miners was abolished from 1962 to 1964, and in 1964 the RTH School Center was established, where mining students were educated according to the regular and part-time program. In 1968, the RTH School Center and the Zagorje ob Savi Mining School Center were merged. The lessons in the mining department of the Industrial Mining School Trbovlje were divided into theoretical and practical lessons. Theoretical lessons took place at the school and included general and professional subjects, while practical lessons took place in the mines or at school workshops. General subjects were taught by teachers and retired teachers while professional subjects were taught by employees in the mining industry.
