Abstract
Z ustrezno izbranimi igrami motiviramo otroke, jih sprostimo in jim omogočimo hitrejše in učinkovitejše napredovanje v znanju plavanja.

Title:Teaching younger children to swim through play
Abstract:
The purpose of this master's degree study is to present the way of teaching younger children to swim by incorporating games, who want to achive a specific goal in their own stage of learning. Swimming represents the basic type of movement in water and has a positive effect on individuals development. The integration of swimming during kindergarden and school period is vital to reduce the number of non-swimmers. With professionally trained staff, we are raising safe and independent swimmers. Learning of advanced swimming techniques becomes much easier if we adapt children to water resistance, submerging their heads, seeing and exhaling underwater, buoyancy and gliding through water. Furthermore, with adjustment to water and teaching them to swim, we also teach children how to jump into water, feet or head first. When teaching, we use different accessories that are selected based on educational goals. We put great emphasis on progressive learning and safety. After going through literature and our own past experiences, we came to conclusion that teaching younger children to swim through play is a more adequate way. By selecting appropriate games we are able to motivate children, help them relax and enable them faster and more effective progression in learning to swim. The content of this master's degree study is intended to anybody who decides to teach swimming. We gathered the information about teaching to swim younger children with emphasis on games, which make learning more interesting. Parents and teachers can diversify the teaching lessons by incorporating any of the shown games and based on them get further ideas to play.
