The paper focuses on the wartime and post-war picture postcards of Slovene painter Maksim Gaspari that were published in 1918 and which feature themes of war or national awakening, framing the events of the time (the end of the war, the Slovene declaration movement). They comprise the series Vojska v slikah (The Army in Pictures) and Deklaracijske razglednice (Declaration Postcards), both of which are in line with Gaspari's creative guidline "Iz naroda za narod" (From the nation for the nation). Gaspari not only equipped them with original artistic illustrations, but also with short texts in Slovene, with which he created the features of an emblem.
