Abstract

Title:Activity of Women's Sociopolitical Organizations from 1945 to 1975 in Slovenia
Abstract:
Based on the analysis of various archival and newspaper materials as well as the existing literature, this bachelor thesis discusses the activity of women’s socio-political organizations from 1945 to 1972 in Slovenia. The Women’s Antifascist Front, the Association of Women’s Societies and the Women’s Social Activity Conference were the most important representatives of women’s rights in the discussed era which was characterized by political and social changes in the field of gender equality. Before the war, women were for the most part excluded from political life, as the unwritten rule stated that a woman’s purpose was taking care of the family and home. The newly formed country, however, brought about various changes in the field of female politics. Due to the activity of women’s socio-political organizations women gained rights in various fields, such as politics, law, economy, motherhood etc., which consequently meant greater financial independence and development of personal skills and interests.

Keywords:socialism, Slovenia, women’s liberation, women’s rights, female suffrage, Women’s Antifascist Front, Association of Women’s Societies, Women’s Social Activity Conference.
