Although the translation of medical texts is one of the older forms of translation, this specific activity is still changing. With new discoveries in medicine, the translation of medical texts has also developed persistently. In the theoretical part of the master's thesis, I present the translation of medical texts as an activity and set out its characteristics and terminology. In the analysis part, I focus exclusively on the names of injuries in sports and thus examine selected medical terms from two Slovenian and four English textbooks. In addition to professional, specialized names for injuries, I was also interested in names for injuries known to the general public and, of course, Latin names, where I paid special attention to spelling errors. In addition, I named Slovenian or English translations for each injury and also added German ones as a matter of interest. In my master's thesis, I proposed two hypotheses: that there are no non-professional names in textbooks that are familiar to the general public, and that Latin names are always given accurately. In the conclusion, I present my findings and confirm or refute the hypotheses. At the end, there is a glossary with all selected terms and their translations.
