Working at the Cirisis Centre for Children – Hiša zavetja Palčica is full of challenges as employees face the difficult life stories of children, their hardships and traumas on a daily basis. Stres is constantly present at work, which can lead to occupational burnout. In my Master's Thesis I focus on the work-related factors in the Crisis Centre for Children – Hiša zavetja Palčica, especially in terms of stress and burnout. Attention was paid to the factors which cause stress and consequent burnout, as well as to the protective factors of employees. I divided the theoretical part into six thematic sections, namely stress, burnout, prevention of stress and burnout, developmental trauma, secondary traumatization and the work at the Crisis Centre for Children – Hiša zavetja Palčica. In the present research I was interested in how stress and burnout are related to the professional and private lives of employees, how employees experience the stories of children who come to the Crisis Centre for Children – Hiša zavetja Palčica, which factors lead to occupational burnout and how employees deal with stress and burnout.
