Abstract

Title:Bibliotherapy and Slovene Bookselling
Abstract:
The purpose of this master's thesis is to determine whether bibliotherapy appears in the Slovenian book trade or bookstores - familiarity with bibliotherapy, the implementation of bibliotherapy or the inclusion of its elements in literary meetings and defining the need of users for such meetings. The survey included 18 Slovenian bookstores of various sizes, and a quantitative method was used, namely an online survey questionnaire. The results showed that employees in Slovenian bookstores are familiar with bibliotherapy. The implementation of bibliotherapy or literary meetings with elements of bibliotherapy is carried out in about a third of the surveyed bookstores. The meetings are held according to the established method of literary meetings; the goals are previously partially or precisely adjusted by the organizers. Literary meetings with elements of bibliotherapy are led by groups - (two or more) employees, leaders and experts in the field. Through conversation and discussion, they want to bring the participants closer to the topic and offer them help, understanding and motivation for the future. Elements of bibliotherapy appear in literary meetings, but truncated or adapted to the bookstore environment. The desire of users for such meetings or conversations is perceived by bookstore employees, but it is rarely expressed. Employees of bookstores are of the opinion that, in addition to books dealing with more difficult life topics, users are also helped by literary meetings with elements of bibliotherapy, and the effectiveness of the combination of both is highlighted.
