Protection against the hazardous effects of water includes the implementation of measures that reduce or prevent the threat of hazardous effects of water and eliminates the consequences of their harmful effects. Protection refers to several different natural phenomena that are caused by water. In addition to the floods that are the biggest threat to Slovenia, it also covers phenomena such as erosion, landslides and avalanches, ice on inland waters. In the master's thesis is presented a rounded legal regulation of protection against hazardous effects of water, which includes all essential aspects of the regulation of this area: measures to reduce the risk, dealing with a natural disaster and eliminating the consequences of the harmful effects of water. Matter of the institute in question is wide, diverse, depending on the moment and partly on the phenomenon itself. Special attention is paid to floods, which are the most common occurrence in Slovenia and cause the greatest damage. Accordingly, the legal regulation of flood protection contains more requirements compared to other phenomena.
