Introduction: In modern times, cigarette smoking is a major factor in public health and cause psychological and biological adiction Cigarette smoking during pregnancy is becoming more common, it is also associated with several fetal developmental complications with an increased risk of short-term to long-term consequences. Cigarette smoking also affects the health of pregnant women in the development of certain hypertensive disorders. Purpose: We wanted to describe the effect of cigarette smoking during wearing on the development of hypertensive disorders such as gestational hypertension, preeclampsia and eclampsia, and present the effects of maternal smoking on the fetus. Present the importance of preventive information about healthy living in smoking cessation before and / or during pregnancy by nurses. Methods: We used a descriptive method of work, where we used data from a database such as MedLine, CINAHL in Cochran, searched the literature with keywords that included pregnancy, hypertensive disorders, preeclampsia, eclampsia, nursing and midwifery. The analysis included literature published from 2011 to March 2020 in English in Slovene. We used 15 professional, original in review scientific articles that were available in full text. Results: Cigarette smoking in pregnancy is increasingly common among the smaller represented adolescents, who are as socio-economically disadvantaged in where they smoke as both parents and / or partners. Smoking causes differences in newborns, because children of smokers are so smaller, lighter, and are mostly born before the due date. Intervention of cigarettes affects the occurrence of hypertensive disorder. In the literature review, we also came across cases where smokers lost the incidence of preeclampsia. Discussion and conclusion: In health care, they needed smoking cessation programs in carriers that were easier to obtain data, guide a pregnant woman, and give her a self-monitoring officer over her doctor. The program would help to achieve a positive pregnancy outcome, giving birth would be a step closer to raising a healthy generation.
