Abstract

Title:Electromagnetic compatibility of apparatus with different applied HDMI cables
Abstract:
This bachelor's degree thesis is describing a problem of using low-quality HDMI video cables in achieving compliance with European Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) directive of a display. Thesis includes a comparison of radiated emission measurements of five different HDMI cables according to the EN 55032:2012 standard, and identification of the possible cause of radiated interference during use of individual video cable. The described method of identifying the cause of radiated interference is also a proposal for method of preliminary identification of the suitability of a video cable, which the engineer or a company can perform before testing. Since the possible cause of radiated electromagnetic interference is also the use of an unsuitable video cable, the manufacturer can avoid cost of multiple testing and save time during conformity assessment of the product. Consideration is also given to the use of suitable cables during development, testing, selling and using of a product.
