Abstract

Title:A Comparison of Two Different Sampling Methods in Archaeobotany: A Case Study from a Roman Cemetery at Gosposvetska Street in Ljubljana
Abstract:
In the thesis, two different sampling methods in archaeobotanical research are presented: profile sampling and judgement sampling. During the excavation at Gosposvetska street many soil samples were taken for plant remains analysis: pollen, seeds/fruits and wood/charcoal. The Roman cemetery dates in the period between the second half of the 3rd century to the first decades of the 5th century AD. This is the first application of modern archaeobotanical methods in the Roman cemeteries in Slovenia.
