The final seminar paper defines the term "pharmaceutical industry" and exemplifies some of its characteristics and location factors that have significantly influenced the location of production facilities in Slovenia. The pharmaceutical industry can be roughly divided into the production of pharmaceutical products and the production of pharmaceutical preparations. Subsequently there are 33 business entities currently active in Slovenia that can be, based on their main activity, classified as part of the pharmaceutical industry. The majority of them are micro-businesses and small companies. In spite of the small number of business entities involved in the industry, the contribution of the pharmaceutical industry to the Slovenian GDP is relatively large. In this seminar paper, data otherwise not accessible and analysed by the public data systems was compiled and analysed within the case study. Due to the numerous advantageous circumstances, such as tradition, the necessary infrastructure, capital and knowledge, the pharmaceutical industry in Slovenia has good conditions for further development.
