Human evolution is the theory that each of us should be well acquainted with. A key role in knowing the topic is played by educational institutions. Primary School Biology Curriculum is extensive, which means that students do not often have time to review the subject matter well within their lessons. It is important that teachers understand well the topic they teach and that they are capable to present it to students through various methods and forms, including motivational approaches that make lessons more attractive. It is important that the lessons are conducted in an interesting as well as comprehensible way. Our goal was to examine resources that address the teaching of human evolution in Primary School. There are many problems that occur with this topic, including some typical misconceptions among students and teachers. We have also analyzed the Slovenian Primary School Biology Curriculum and approved Slovenian Primary School Biology textbooks. We have learnt that human evolution is represented in the Biology Curriculum by only one learning objective written in a very extensive way. Due to such a general and extensively set learning goal, the analyzed textbooks differ from each other in the extent and depth of the learning content. Based on the analyzed literature, curriculum and textbooks, we have prepared a lesson plan on human evolution.
