Abstract

Title:
Tactile map of the chosen area in Lithuania : graduation thesis
Abstract:
Tactile maps serve as an orientation tool for the blind and visually impaired. This thesis describes the characteristics of perception of the visually impaired, presents the standard of Slovene Braille, discusses the technologies for production of tactile maps, and introduces some examples of such maps from Lithuania, Poland and Slovenia. The main purpose of the thesis was to construct and produce a tactile map of Vilnius’s old city center, the capital of Lithuania. The map was made with AutoCAD program tools and 3D printing technology to give a visually impaired person a general idea of the chosen area.
