Temperate bacteriophages are viruses that infect bacteria and have the ability to integrate themselves into the bacterial genome and passively replicate with its host. They have a wide range of applications from treating bacterial infections, investigating protein interactions, using them as delivery systems, as a cloning tool and more. The knowledge of how to produce them is mainly being developed in industrial settings and information rarely gets out into the scientific community. In this work I review different modes of production, what we have to take into consideration especially when working with temperate bacteriophages and how we could optimise the process of production.
