Abstract
V diplomskem delu sem opisal potek načrtovanja in realizacije samostojnega sistema, ki koristi IEEE standardizirani sistem napajanje preko Etherneta. Sistem krmili infrardečo signalizacijo, ki je uporabljena pri zaznavi lokacije in smeri gledanja osebe znotraj prostora. S tem uporabnike vključimo v 3D navidezno resničnost, s katero uporabniki interagirajo in obratno.\par V celoti sem opisal potek načrtovanja tiskanega vezja. Na tiskanem vezju sem realiziral dva samostojna stikalna napajalnika, ki se napajata preko Etherneta. Opisal sem tudi vzpostavitev UDP Ethernet in USB komunikacije, izbiro vmesniškega integriranega vezja in opisal delovanje. Izdelal sem tudi gonilnike, ki krmilijo infrardeče diode. Ob izdelavi tiskanega vezja sem poskrbel tudi za varnost uporabnika in elektromagnetno kompatibilnost, ki zagotavlja zanesljivo delovanje vezja, odpornost na motnje in nizke elektromagnetne emisije. Ko sem tiskano vezje uspešno izdelal, sem se lotil programske kode, v kateri sem inicializiral obe vrsti komunikacije, usposobil PWM izhode za gonilnike in pripravil komunikacijski protokol. Vzporedno sem izdelal tudi uporabniški program, ki omogoča komunikacijo z vezjem in posredno krmiljenje vezja. V zaključku sem se lotil še elektronskih in temperaturnih meritev, s katerimi sem potrdil zanesljivo delovanje sistema. Predlagal sem tudi možne nadgradnje, ki jih bom implementiral v drugi različici sistema.

Title:Use of Power Over Ethernet and MII lwIP/UDP Communication for Remote Control of Infrared Signalization
Abstract:
This thesis describes the complete process of planning and developing a standalone system that utilizes the Power over Ethernet (PoE) feature of the IEEE 802.3 specification. The system controls the infrared signalization used for determining the position and the orientation of a person inside the system’s perimeter. With the help of this system users are immersed into and interact with a 3D virtual reality environment. The process of PCB design is described. The board comprises two switching power supplies that are powered via PoE. The initialization of UDP communication via Ethernet and USB communication is described, followed by the selection of integrated circuits for the implementation of the interface, and the drivers for infrared diodes. In the PCB design phase human safety and electromagnetic compatibility were taken into account to ensures reliable circuit operation with high noise immunity and low electromagnetic emissions. The final assembly of the board is described followed by software development where both types of available communication are initialized, PWM outputs are enabled and the communication protocol is established. A user side application is also developed that is used for communication with the circuit board and its remote control. The thesis is concluded with electronic and temperature measurements that demonstrate the reliability of the system. Finally, possible upgrades are listed that will be introduced in the second version of the system.
