The bachelor's thesis illustrates the situation of Slovenian recruits in JNA at the beginning of Slovenian independence war, based on oral sources. The last generation of Slovenian recruits began their service in the JNA in September 1990. Before June 1991 they faced many important events, which affected their everyday; Slovenian independence plebiscite, Croatian-Serbian unrests in the nationally mixed area around Plitvice and last but not least Slovenian secession from Yugoslavia and the 10-day war which followed. The return of these soldiers was one of the most important challenges of the Slovenian independence movement. A Committee of soldiers' parents has largely contributed to a safe return of all 6500 soldiers before September 1991. Many recruits have returned already during the war and the rest have in late July and in the beginning of August 1991
