Tourism in the Municipality of Ivančna Gorica is one of the five essential areas of work and life for future development. That is why it attracts increasing attention both in theory and practice. Municipality is full of relatively untouched parts of nature, which attract hikers, as well as it is rich in cultural heritage. The purpose of the final seminar paper was to find out what kind of role do societies in Municipality of Ivančna Gorica have for development in tourism. I researched the role of societies mainly through documents and their web sites. I also did fieldwork where I observed the effect societies have on the appearance of surroundings. Even though societies do not give that impression, they significantly contribute to the development of tourism because they take care of the appearance and tidiness of surroundings, connecting the locals, promoting places etc. Municipality of Ivančna Gorica has a lot of potential for further development in the area of tourism.
