Abstract
V diplomskem delu sem raziskovala o mladih in njihovem duševnem zdravju. Opisala sem kaj so to varovalni dejavniki in dejavniki tveganja in kakšen vpliv imajo na mladostnika – to so šola, spol, vrstniki, družina in mediji.

Title:The youth and mental health
Abstract:
In my graduation thesis, I was researching about the mental health of young people. Mental health is an issue of social work that has been researched more over the past few years. In adolescent years and in the years of growing up, the youth has to face changes in his life. Depending on the ability to adjust to the changes adolescent can accept the changes or they can face some difficulties that affect their mental health. In the theoretical introduction, I present what is mental health and how it is defined and what kind of impact can have a crisis on mental health. I also present some general facts about mental health problems and in more detail, I present stress, depression, anxiety and eating disorders. These are more frequent problems in the mental health of the youth. I present protective and risk factors and what kind of impact they have on the youth – which are school, gender, peers, family and media. When the youth experience problems in mental health, it's important for them to know, where to find help – who to turn to and to which institution. Linking social work and mental health I present what is the role of the social worker in the field of mental health, and how can they help the youth, that is facing mental health problems. I've been researching with quantitative research on what kind of mental health problems the youth is experiencing, which factors are protective factors or risk factors for them and where they would seek help. The results show that the youth experience problems in mental health very rarely. Critical conditions don't have a big impact on them. All researched factors, which were family, friends/peers, school and media are protective factors for them. They would most likely turn for help to their families and their friends or peers.
