Background: Ultrasound imaging is one of the most common used non-invasive techniques of medical diagnostic imaging. For safe use of the ultrasound in medical imaging we must pay attention on the heating of the exposed tissue and on the possibility of the false diagnosis. In the ultrasound diagnostics is therefore important, that the ultrasound system works correctly. Quality control approaches of the ultrasound device are based on the refined guidelines. Some techniques are simple and require no testing equipment, but others are using test objects. The goal of this thesis is to study, describe and to compare the control quality approaches of the ultrasound devices that are based on different guidelines. Methods: We did a systematic literature review. We reviewed the following databases: DiKUL (Digital library of the University in Ljubljana), Google Scholar and Pub Med Central. All documents were searched with key words in Slovene and English language. Results: There were 7 references that were suitable for our preview and analysis and that we incorporated in the systematic review. The sources that we incorporated in our thesis were written in the years from 2008 to 2018, in different countries over the world and were researching the control quality of the ultrasound devices. In our thesis we incorporated certain contents of individual sources. These were: care of the ultrasound equipment, structure of the phantom, goals of quality control tests, who performs the quality assurance tests, action in case of an error, executing of the air-test and the structure and frequency of executing quality assurance tests. Conclusion: Based on the analyzed sources we found out, that there are many ways of executing quality assurance tests. These are similar to one another but vary in some approaches (guidelines). The guidelines dictate the executing of tests, that are being executed by responsible person.
