In this Master's thesis, the injection molding process optimization of the chosen product was performed. The optimization objective was to achieve a shorter cycle time and to understand the effect of six injection molding process parameters on part dimensions. The thesis presents the theoretical foundation of the thermoplastic injection molding process, polymeric materials and their shrinkage and the design of experiments. It also includes the description of chosen system material – tool – machine, planning and execution of the experiment, process parameters optimization and analysis of material shrinkage results. Process optimization was performed by design of experiments method with L27 Taguchi orthogonal array. To determine molding shrinkage value of a polyoxymethylene Hostaform polymer measurements of mold cavities and parts were performed.
