Solidarnostni in utopični ideal pri Richardu Rortyju

V diplomskem delu gre predvsem za problem kako misliti solidarnost in utopijo – upanje, v postutopični dobi. Richard Rorty se tega loteva z gledišča leve politične strani, ki obljublja upanje, tako kot prenekatere velike zgodbe zgodovine. Upanje in solidarnost gresta z roko v roki, vendar ju je v času, ko prevladuje filozofski brezup, ki ga prinaša kapitalistični sistem, težko misliti. Rorty pa nam ponudi pot iz postutopičnega brezupa, nazaj k misliti solidarnost, upanje in ne nazadnje nazaj k metafiziki.

• Title: Solidarity and Utopia in Richard Rorty’s Thought

Abstract

The thesis deals predominantly with the thought of solidarity, utopia and hope in a post-utopian era. Richard Rorty presents this issue from a leftist viewpoint which promises hope just as it has been promised multiple times by various great stories throughout history. Hope coincides with solidarity; however in times of the prevalent philosophical despair brought by capitalism, hope and solidarity are hardly ever given thought. Yet Rorty offers a way out of the post-utopian despair back to solidarity, hope and lastly to metaphysics.
