Abstract
Pričujoče diplomsko delo razišče in analizira odzive takratnega nemškega in slovenskega časopisja na smrt grofa Eduarda Franza Josepha von Taaffeja leta 1895, velikega zagovornika mnogih, za Slovence ugodnih političnih in gospodarskih ukrepov v času Avstro-Ogrske. Grof Taaffe je bil ključna osebnost, ki je imela dovolj moči, da je lahko posegla v multikulturno družbo, kakršna je habsburška monarhija bila. Prizadeval si je, da bi narodom, povezanim v monarhijo, zagotovil določene narodnostne pravice, zaradi česar mu je uspelo v monarhiji ohranjati gospodarski napredek in blagostanje, povezano s tem pa ohranjati mir. Diplomsko delo poskusi raziskati, v kakšni meri je bil grof Taaffe pri Slovencih priljubljen in razumljen. Raziskava je potekala s pomočjo nemškega in slovenskega časopisja, ki je v tedanjem času izhajalo na etničnem območju današnje Slovenije. Title:The Responses of German and Slovene Periodicals to the Death of Count Eduard Franz Joseph von Taaffe (1833–1895)
Abstract:
There are different perceptions of the life and work of count Eduard Franz Joseph von Taaffe as is apparent from Slovenian and German newspapers that were published in ethnical territory of today’s Slovenia at the time when count Taaffe died in 1895. Count Taaffe was a huge proponent of national diversity in multicultural Austro-Hungarian Empire. He was the key personality who had enough power to interfere with and calm multicultural society of Austro-Hungarian Empire. He made tremendous effort to ensure certain nationalistic rights that enabled Austro-Hungarian Empire to gain economic growth and prosperity that helped keep peace. The thesis discusses how the Slovenians related to count Taaffe. The research was conducted by means of German and Slovenian press released in the time of death of count Taaffe in Slovenia.
