Communication with oneself – intrapersonal communication is an important aspect of personality. Deeper cognition, study and assessment of it will become even more relevant in the future, as intrapersonal communication appears to be unconditionally important for quality adapting, decision-making and creativity of each individual from their childhood onwards. In this master’s thesis, we showed how intrapersonal communication is related to artistic expression as a visual perception of self, of society and of nature. We did so by means of theoretical knowledge and findings, as well as in the empirical part through participants’ answers to the research questions. Theoretical part of the thesis touched upon the research of important concepts (personality, communication, intrapersonal communication, language, speech, visual language, etc.) in order to better understand the studied topic and connect new findings with the empirical part of the research, where we focused on studying the inner experience of the participants. We sought the desired data among randomly selected people of different age, gender and education level. We invited them to participate in the research and gave them instructions for the art task, along with the research questionnaire. Based on their art pieces and the answers to the questions, we analysed the data and linked it to theory. We were interested in what motivates the artist to express themselves artistically, how they communicate with themselves before, during and after artistic creation, and what is the significance of their choice of art technique.
