Genetsko ozadje in pasemska politika barvnih vzorcev ameriških quarter konj

Ameriški quarter konji so poleg vsestranskosti prepoznavni tudi po širokem spektru barv konjskega plašča. Pri ameriškem združenju quarter konj (AQHA) je priznanih 17 osnovnih barv, ki jih po sprejetju novega pravila spremljajo tudi različni barvni vzorci. Barvne vzorce, ki se pojavljajo, imenujemo overo barvni vzorci. Opisali smo genetsko ozadje in fenotipe barvnih vzorcev frame overo, sabino in splashed white overo. S primerjavo med zaslužki potomcev enobarvnih in overo obarvanih žrebcev, smo ugotovili, da se overo obarvani ameriški quarter konji od enobarvnih razlikujejo le po njihovem barvnem plašču. V tekmovalnem svetu poleg nekaterih overo obarvanih izjem še vedno dosegajo boljše rezultate potomci enobarvnih žrebcev. Ker se v svetu konj pojavlja vedno več barvnih različic, ki se izrazijo na konjskem plašču, je matično AQHA v pravilnik dodalo novo klavzulo o belem pravilu. S tem so omogočili vpis konj z vzorcem v rodovno knjigo, s tem so še povečali že tako pestro barvno lestvico, pridobili nove plemenske živali in tako povečali število registriranih konj in članov.

• Title: Genetic background and breed organization policy of coat patterns in American Quarter Horses

Abstract

American Quarter Horses are, in addition to their versatility, also recognized for their wide range of coat colors. It recognizes 17 basic colors which were accompanied by a new rule of different color patterns. The new coat patterns that appear are called overo coat patterns. We describe the genetic background and phenotypes of frame overo, sabino and splashed white overo. By comparing lifetime foal earnings of solid colored and overo colored stallions we found that the only difference between overo and solid colored horses is their coat color. In the equestrian scene, along with few overo colored horses the majority of best performers are still offsprings of solid colored sires. As more and more color mutations occur in the horse world, which are expressed as horse's coat variants, American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) added a new rule clause to the rule book. This enabled the entry of overo colored horses into the breed registry, increasing the already wide color scale, acquired new breeding animals and increased the number of registered horses and members.
