To build a wooden bicycle we need to make a layer composite from beech veneer. The most critical in this difficult process is a choice of glue. Therefore, we selected 3 the most suitable adhesives: polyurethane adhesive Mitopur E45, polyester resin Colpoly 7201 and epoxide resin Epox 210. We made tests with standard SIST EN 205, which described determination of tensile shear strength of lap joints. First we glued together 2 panels of beech, than we had to cut it to the standardized specimens. Tests were made by the same standard. Before we started with tests, we prepared the specimens with some procedures, which are described in standard SIST EN 12765. We determined that the best glue for our composite was polyurethane glue, which was the best in all the conditions from standard. We had problems with penetration at gluing with epoxide resin. That is clear from results, because some specimens had good results, but others have disintegrated during preparation process. Polyester resin was the worst.
