Abstract
Vsi 3 površinski premazi so bili zračno sušeni.

Title:Comparison of treatment of a table top made of solid oak wood with a solvent borne varnish and with two water borne varnishes
Abstract:
The aim of the research was to establish the possibility for a small joinery workshop to replace wood coating systems on the basis of organic solvents with waterborne varnishes to reduce emissions of volatile organic compounds into the environment. We compared a solvent borne polyurethane (PU) wood coating with 1- and 2- component waterborne coatings. To replace a solvent borne PU wood coating its most important that the alternative waterborne wood finishes assure comparable properties on the treated surfaces. All tested coating systems were applied by a conventional air spraying process on single-layer solid oak wood panels. All 3 surface coatings were air dried. It was found out, that the solvent borne PU coating system could be replaced with both tested waterborne systems. However, the results of the waterborne coating with a V2 label were better than those of the V1 coating. Calculation of the reduction of volatile organic compound emissions for the assumed production shows that the replacement of the solvent borne PU system with the water borne coating systems could reduce emissions of volatile organic compounds for almost 2 tons per year.
