Abstract
Uvod: Sistem eCall predstavlja samodejni klic v sili v primeru prometne nesreče in služi zagotavljanju višje stopnje varnosti v prometu in čim hitrejšemu posredovanju urgentnih služb ob tovrstnem dogodku. Ob trku vzpostavi vozilo podatkovno in govorno povezavo s centrom za obveščanje in posreduje najnujnejše informacije.

Title:Familiarity of motor vehicle drivers with the automatic emergency call system- eCall : diploma work
Abstract:
Introduction: eCall system features an automatic emergency call in case of a traffic accident and serves to enhance traffic safety by hastening the response of emergency services upon such an event. As the accident occurs, the vehicle establishes voice and data connection with the emergency call center and sends the most relevant information. The call can be activated automatically or manually. A European directive set the date for installation of such a system in all new car models and cars with new homologation for March 31st 2018. Purpose: The purpose of the thesis is to introduce the eCall system and establish how many drivers know the system, how they received information and what their opinion on the system is. Methods: In the thesis, we reviewed Slovene and foreign literature, using descriptive research method. With the use of an online survey, we examined how informed the drivers are about the system. Results: One fourth of the surveyed population knew the system. Almost half of the population (49%) drive cars older than 3 years and are uninformed about the existence of such a system. The general opinion about the system is that its implementation would be beneficial and would serve to shorten the response of emergency services in case of a traffic accident. Discussion and conclusion: The implementation of the eCall system is a novelty that is not well-known among drivers; however, the population in the survey approved its implementation. In the interest of broader knowledge about the system, we should educate the general public, especially car drivers. In time the system gets installed in all new cars, a big achievement would also be its installation in older cars. As its use broadens, further analysis of data regarding its contribution to better traffic safety would be very interesting.
