The master thesis discusses the field of spatial planning at the regional level and includes a proposal of the regional concept of tourism development on the example of Bela krajina. The tourism development strategy of Bela krajina was already made in 2017, but does not include the spatial component of tourism development. We took into account the existing document, added new analysis and made our own proposal for the spatial development of tourism in the destination. In the master thesis, we analyzed spatial legislation, strategic documents (in the field of tourism and spatial planning) and spatial plans. We carried out a spatial analysis of the region, which included an analysis of location, natural features (climate, geology, surface, vegetation, soil, animals, water and nature protection area), social characteristics (settlements, population, economy, history, cultural heritage) and public infrastructure. In the analysis of tourism, we studied tourist visits, sights, tourist products, tourist organizations in the region, challenges and problems, development guidelines, tourist routes, sports and congress infrastructure and events. Based on the previously mentioned analysis, we performed a SWOT analysis and defined four strategic goals. As a basis for development, we opted for a synthesis concept, which includes three possible development scenarios. The result of the master thesis is a map of the concept of spatial development in Bela krajina and 19 measures. We included 6 different tourism providers and 3 institutions operating in the field of tourism in Bela krajina in the preparation of the work. The master thesis represents the concept of preparing a part of the regional spatial plan, which will have to be done by Slovenian regions in the future according to the legislation.
