Romantic partnerships as they once knew them are losing their significance over time, and instead of this transformation of both, social and intimate life, is taking place. This diploma deals with the change of intimacy over time, the construction of modern partnerships and the impact of the virtual world on building intimate relationships and romantic partnerships. Firstly it emphasizes the concept of intimacy, love, sexuality, and their transformation in postmodern societies. Above all, the first part focuses on Giddens' transformation of intimacy and his concept of "pure relationship". In the following, the influence of the development of technology on getting to know potential partners is highlighted, where the sociological aspects of finding and getting to know partners on the Internet are also presented. The Internet has become the main tool for many tasks, and with it, the modern way of getting to know each other has moved into the virtual world. The second part of diploma presents the construction of intimacy through the concept of online dating, perception of sexuality in the context of online dating, the reasons for using online applications in finding potential partners and the advantages and disadvantages of it. The experiences of individuals with Internet dating, their reasons for such a way of getting to know potencial partners and the perception of these individuals about the concept of love and partnerships are in this diploma presented through qualitative research.
