Radio has a great potential for addressing a younger audience, although it does not address it very successfully. It seems that reaching younger audiences and involving the young in radio production is quite inept. Therefore, in 2017 Val 202, the Second Channel of Radio Slovenia launched a project Hey DJ for young radio DJs, a pioneer project which tried to adapt the production practices to younger audiences based on the knowledge of their interests we obtained in the field study. We invited them to join our project and cooperate with us at creating the competitive, entertaining and educational show. The emphasis was on the music, which they listen to and create in their free time. We chose 20 DJs, 20 active young creative people to participate in the show production. They were given the opportunity to play their music and accompany it with live speech. Simultaneously we launched "Facebook Live" video broadcasting and enabled the audience participation and voting for the better of the two contestants. The young DJs were given mentoring support, they were acquainted with radio production, and we adapted the content and language choices to the target audience. We interviewed two DJs who said that they had learned how to perform, how to handle stress and they had gained new knowledge during the project without a feeling of being under control or moulded. They were heard. The radio show Hey DJ deviated from the usual programme of Val 202 radio station in many aspects, all in the pursuit of the goals of inclusion and addressing the young audience.
