The starting compound [Zn(I3O)2(H2O)2] was synthesized by the reaction of ZnCl2 and indol-3-acetic acid, which was used as the starting compound for the synthesis of four different zinc complex by adding four different neutral nitrogen-donor ligands in 1:1 ratio with the starting compound in different solvents. The four resulting compounds [Zn(I3O)2(bipy)], [Zn(I3O)2(phen)], [Zn(I3O)2(bipyam)] in [Zn(I3O)2(4-ampy)2]∙H2O (bipy = bipiridin, phen = fenantrolin, bipyam = bipiridinamin, 4 ampy = 4-aminopiridin) have been analysed and characterized by some analytical methods such as: IR spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (PXRD), nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H NMR), CHN elemental analysis as well as UV-Vis and luminescence in the solid-state.
