The thesis consists of a theoretical introduction and empirical work. In the theoretical part of the bachelor’s thesis, I first explored the situations of the demographic change in contemporary society. I proceeded with an introduction of the theory of long-term care, described the concept of social inequality, devoted a chapter to the needs of the older people in long-term care, and continued to present integrated care that adapts to the individual needs on a personal basis. At the end of the theoretical introduction, I focused on the social work profession with older people and presented the concepts used in social work about working with older people. In the empirical part, I presented a qualitative analysis. Eleven participants participated in the survey. I researched their daily lives, activities, social network, desires and needs, and their impact on meeting the needs of their living environment. I qualitatively analyzed the obtained data, thus linking the responses of the study participants with local community resources. The results of the research showed that older people experienced poverty in childhood and adolescence. Today, however, they are financially stable. In their free time, they like to walk, socialize with close family members and friends. In the local community, older people perceive the phenomenon of individualism and bad neighborhood socializing. The research showed that older people are well aware of the existing forms of help available to them and, in addition to health and socializing with relatives. They have a desire for care in the home environment. At the end of the thesis, I focused on proposals that would improve the quality of life of the older people in the Municipality Jesenice. Some of the more important ones include education and workshops for informal caregivers in the field of long-term care knowledge promoting the use of modern technology for the older people, advising family members to visit residents in the home for older people, and new infrastructural adjustments that would allow older people to live independently in their domestic environment.
