The thesis presents development and construction of a device for testing pneumatic manipulators. The product is intended for Hidria, d.o.o., Kompetenčni center in Koper, which deals with industrial automation.
The idea came from the needs in production where automated production lines are assembled. These are first planned by the designers. Construction plans and electrical wiring diagrams are made so that the finished product can be then assembled by workers. In that phase they face many problems and discrepancies, which is why the testing phase is crucial. Each assembled set of pneumatic actuators that are part of the line must be carefully calibrated. For this type of testing, the workers did not have any devices to simplify their work, thus the idea for the thesis was born.
So far the testing has been carried out by workers linking each pneumatic cylinder to a pneumatic block where they were individually actuated. This type of testing is time-consuming and does not allow all the functionality offered by a manufactured device.
It was the desire of the workers that the pneumatic actuators would be actuated by the entered sequence. To this end, we envisioned an interface between the worker and the machine, which does not require the programmer's programming knowledge.
The thesis is based on Siemens Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and their programming.
