Abstract

Title:Development of accessory for easier learning and recognition of colours for visually impaired children
Abstract:
For most children, learning and play are done through sight, so it is necessary to enable visually impaired children to do this in a different way. The diploma thesis refers to the creation of an accessory for learning colors for visually impaired children using the 3D printing technique. The goal of the diploma thesis is to create a useful tool for visually impaired children for easier and more fun learning of first-order colors and mixing them to get second-order colors. The research question was whether this tool is practically useful and whether it really facilitates the learning and recognizing of colors for visually impaired children and children with color blindness. We responded to it with an experiment that included the use and efficiency of the product in practice. Diploma thesis is divided into two parts: the theoretical part, which defines visual impairment, its types, its development, treatment of visually impaired children, approaches to their learning. Then, 3D modeling and 3D printing are briefly presented. The experimental part describes the process of 3D modeling using the Blender software tool. The software, hardware and materials needed to print 3D models are also presented. The following models were designed and then printed; color wheel with first-order and second-order colors, the former containing one geometric figure, which in different combinations appear in the field of second-order colors. Each field contains a color notation as well as the initials of the color in braille. In addition to this model, the accessories for color pencils were made, which include the same figure as on the color wheel. Here the color record appears in two different sizes and Braille. In my diploma thesis, the theoretical basis on the general characteristics of visually impaired children, 3D printing and 3D modeling are combined.
