Abstract

Title:Introducing the elements of the Reggio Emilia approach in the Kindergarten Gornji Grad
Abstract:
In our master's thesis we explored how we could introduce the elements of the educational concept of Reggio Emilia into our institution - Kindergarten Gornji Grad and thus enrich our educational work. In the theoretical part of the master's thesis we presented the selected educational concept and justified why this concept represents a quality pre-school practice. We highlighted the similarities and differences between the Kindergarten Curriculum and the Reggio Emilia Educational Concept, and highlighted the dilemmas that need to be critically evaluated in implementing the elements of the chosen educational concept in a public nursery. In the empirical part of the master's thesis we wanted to explore how well the employees of the Gornji Grad Kindergarten are familiar with the educational concept of Reggio Emilia, what elements of the selected educational concept are already introduced in our institution, how are they included, what elements would professionals be willing to introduce in their work and which they are not willing to introduce and why. In order to gain a comprehensive insight into the situation under study, we analyzed the documentation of kindergartens and educators (Annual Work Plans) and tried to determine how much this already includes the individual elements of the Reggio Emilia educational concept and what those elements are. We have found out that elements of documenting the educational work of children have already been introduced in our kindergarten, integration of the kindergarten into the local environment, where it is necessary to exclude cooperation with parents. They also develop the identity of the individual, respect the diversity of the children and give them the choice, and work in smaller groups rather than using so many frontal forms of work.
